Chelsea Starlet Ola Aina Will Not Reject Nigeria Call Up; Also Available For England Youth Teams
Published: July 03, 2016
Chelsea talent Ola Aina has made himself available for selection for Nigeria after talks that place in England between the defender, his father Olufemi Aina and representatives of the Nigeria Football Federation.
However, it must be stressed that the London-born stopper is not entirely turning his back on England as he is an important member of their youth teams, or in other words any country that he plays competitively for first at senior level will secure his international future.
“Ola Aina is available if if truly we are ready to extend invite to him and we have made that known to coach Siasia directly, ” Team Nigeria UK boss David Doherty told allnigeriasoccer.com.
“He has not been invited to Nigeria’s U23s team but we asked him what are his options if an invite is extended to him. We spoke to his dad about the issue.”
Olufemi Aina, Ola’s dad, added : “He is a man now, he can really make his own decision. For me as a dad, I have spoken to him and I have really advised him.
“I think he is getting there gradually, it won’t be a bad idea to play for Nigeria. I think in the years to come, I hope not very long, you will see Ola play for Nigeria.”
The 19-year-old Ola Aina has racked up more than 30 appearances for England’s youth teams since he made his debut for the U16s.
