Mikel On Target As Nigeria U23s Thrash African XI 12-0 In Last Friendly
Ahead of their first game at the 2016 Olympic Games against Japan, the Nigeria U23s thrashed an African select team of Atlanta 12-0 on Wednesday in their last friendly match before heading to Brazil.

The Samson Siasia-led side stunned the African XI with six goals in the first half, with Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel opening scoring, and they continued their dominance in the second half by scoring six more goals.

Former Slavia Sofia fullback Victor Deniran, who played for the African XI, was delighted to face his compatriots especially Super Eagles skipper Mikel.

Deniran told allnigeriasoccer.com : “It was a pleasure for me to play against the Olympic Team before the Olympics, the same team I was a part of 2012 but we didn’t make it to the Olympics.

“ And it’s a pleasure to play against Chelsea star Mikel Obi . ”

Colombia and Sweden are the other teams the Dream Team VI will face in the group phase of the Olympic Games.
