Striking Nigeria U23 Players Boycott Thursday Training Over Unpaid Bonuses
The Nigerian U23 National Team, otherwise known as the Dream Team VI, skipped their workout on Thursday ahead of their quarter-final meeting with Denmark at Itaipava Arena Fonte Nova, Salvador.

The squad embarked on a strike to press home their demands for the payments of outstanding bonuses.

“The Nigeria U23 football team didn’t train yesterday in protest over unpaid camp allowances and match bonuses, ” a Nigeria Football Federation insider told allnigeriasoccer.com.

“They have threatened to boycott the quarterfinal game with Denmark if they are not paid before the game. Hopefully, they should resume training today.

Nigeria coach Samson Siasia is sweating on the fitness of top scorer Oghenekaro Etebo and Junior Ajayi, who picked up a training ground injury in Atlanta, ahead of the crucial tie with the Scandinavians.
