Exclusive : Etebo Ruled Out Of Denmark Clash; Scan Confirms He Has Torn Muscle
Published: August 13, 2016Dream Team VI coach Samson Siasia has been dealt an injury blow ahead of his side’s meeting with Denmark in the quarterfinals of the Olympic Games, as star player Oghenekaro Etebo will not be in action against the Scandinavians.
And to add insult to injury, a scan on Thursday confirmed the attacking midfielder’s worst fears, that he has torn a muscle and may miss the rest of the tournament.
“Etebo cannot play against Denmark. The tests showed that the tear is not much but he may not be available again for the entire competition, ” a top source told allnigeriasoccer.com.
The CD Feirense star was at the heart of everything good about Nigeria in their first two matches, and Siasia’s decision to play him in a dead rubber match versus Colombia became questionable after he picked up a hamstring injury.
Oghenekaro Etebo has scored four goals at the Olympics, more than any other player in the history of Nigerian football.
