Nigerian Whizkid Tosin Kehinde Inching Closer To Manchester United Debut
Published: August 23, 2016
Nigerian-born midfielder Tosin Kehinde will fancy his chances of breaking into the first team of Manchester United in the not too distant future.
The 18-year-old is widely regarded as one of the top talents at Old Trafford and impressed at pre-season training with Manchester United Reserves, so much so that eyebrows were raised in certain quarters when he was not handed his first-team debut by Jose Mourinho ahead of the start of the new season.
Kehinde has picked up where he left off at pre-season, starting and completing every single game contested by Manchester United U23s in the Premier League 2 this term, including Monday’s 2-0 loss to Southampton at St. Mary’s Stadium.
If he makes an appearance for the first team of the Red Devils, he will follow in the footsteps of defender Paul McGrath, who played for the club from 1982–1989 and was eligible to represent Nigeria before committing his international future to Republic of Ireland.
Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that representatives of the Nigeria Football Federation are monitoring the progress of Tosin Kehinde at Manchester United, with a view to handing him a call up to one of the national teams.
