Versatile Nigerian Defender Toby Omole Fulfilling His Talents At Arsenal
Published: August 23, 2016Defender Toby Omole is progressing well in his development at English Premier League club Arsenal .
Raised in the United Kingdom, Omole is eligible to represent the Nigerian teams, so a lot of Nigerians back home are monitoring his progress at the Emirates.
The teenager is primarily a central defender but has proved that he can be handy at left-back, having starred in Arsenal’s 1-1 draw with Swansea City last weekend in that position following the unavailability of other players.
Arsenal youth-team expert Jeorge Bird wrote : “Omole is usually deployed at centre-back, but, with Pileas and Bola not available, he was moved across to left-back against Swansea.
“The 16-year-old was impressive as he frequently made forays down the flank and produced some incisive crosses.”
A product of Hale End Academy that produced the likes of Chuba Akpom and Alex Iwobi, Omole penned a scholarship deal with the Gunners this summer.
