Catch up on the performances of players of Nigerian descent in the Football League Cup on Tuesday night.

At Selhurst Park (London), Crystal Palace beat Bright Osayi-Samuel’s Blackpool 2-0, with the teenage winger in action for the last 20 minutes. The Eagles striker Freddie Ladapo did not make the 18-man squad.

Queens Park Rangers are through to the third round following their 2-1 win against Rochdale. Nedum Onuoha and Olamide Shodipo played the full game for the Championship club.

England international Ross Barkley helped Everton secure a 4-0 win at home to Yeovil Town. He scored in the 69th minute, then subbed out ten minutes later. Omar Sowunmi was on the bench for the visitors.

Ola Aina and Victor Moses made the starting XI as Chelsea beat Bristol Rovers 3-2 at Stamford Bridge. While the Super Eagles star went the distance, the defender was substituted in the 77th minute and Dominic Solake was a non-playing sub.

Moses was on target in the 31st minute, his first goal for the club in the new season.

Fred Onyedinma started and played 45 minutes of Millwall’s 2-1 loss at home to Nottingham Forest.

Tiago Ilori, Sheyi Ojo and Ovie Ejaria were not involved in Liverpool’s 5-0 rout of Burton Albion at the Pirelli Stadium.

Canada international Sam Adekugbe opened scoring in the second minute as his team Brighton & Hove thrashed Oxford United 4-2 at the Kassam Stadium . The defender was yellow carded in the closing minutes of the game.

Injured Moses Odubajo did not feature in Hull City’s 3-1 win at Exeter City.

Super Eagles netminder Carl Ikeme remained on the bench for the entirety of Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-1 win over Cambridge United.

Teammate Dominic Iorfa worked a ninety-minute shift in defense while Bright Enobakhare and Hakeem Odofin were not involved, having played for the U23 squad on Monday.

Chelsea loanee Tammy Abraham continued his impressive start to the season by scoring in Bristol City’s 2-1 win over Scunthorpe United after extra time at Glanford Park.

Abraham appeared off the bench in the 67th minute, before scoring what turned out to be the game-winner in the 97th minute. Scunthorpe United number 16 Hakeem Adelakun was replaced in the 61st minute.

Super Eagles star Odion Ighalo needed only one minute to register his name on the scoresheet after his introduction in the 56th minute, but his goal goal could not prevent Watford from suffering a shock 2-1 loss to Gillingham at the Vic.

Nigeria youth international Isaac Success did not make the squad while Ikechi Anya subbed out in the 94th minute. Emmanuel Osadebe notched two assists. The midfielder and  Adedeji Oshilaja played the full game.

Over to Ewood Park, Blackburn Rovers beat Crewe Alexandra 4-3 after extra time. Hope Akpan netted the second goal for Rovers and went the distance.
