Catch up on the performances of players of Nigerian descent in the Europa League on Thursday, August 25.

We start off at the Osmanlı Stadı (Ankara) where Osmanlıspor took on FC Midtjylland. Three Nigerians - Umar Aminu, Raheem Lawal (both Osmanlıspor ) and Rilwan Hassan (FCM) started and completed the game.

The Turkish side advanced to the group stage 3-0 on aggregate. Paul Onuachu was absent for the Danish team.
 
Joining Osmanlıspor in the group stage is Austria Vienna, who pay the wages of ex-Flying Eagles star Olarenwaju Kayode.

The Austrians defeated Rosenborg 2-1 on the night, with Kayode netting the game-winner in the 69th minute. He was replaced with 12 minutes remaining.

Maribor number 14 Sunday Omoregie was a non-playing substitute in his team’s 1-0 win over Qabala.

Super Eagles invitee Nosa Igiebor continues to impress in the new season, going the distance as Maccabi Tel Aviv beat Hadjuk Split on penalties to advance to the group stage. He was yellow carded in the 53rd minute.

Ex-Golden Eaglets and Flying Eagles skipper Musa Mohammed was not in ä°stanbul Basaksehir’s 18-man squad when they tackled Shakhtar Donetsk. The Ukrainians won 2-0 and are through to the next round.

Premier League club West Ham surprisingly crashed out of the Europa League following their 1-0 home loss to Astra despite Italy international Angelo Ogbonna playing the full game.

Moses Simon notched two assists as Gent thrashed Shkendija 4-0 in Skopje. The winger, wearing the number 27 shirt, put in a ninety-minute shift at Nacionalna Arena Filip II Makedonski.

Over to the Stadio Georgios Karaiskáki (Pireás), Olympiakos needed a goal in extra time from Super Eagle Brown Ideye to advance to the next round.

The Nigeria national-teamer netted in the 114th minute to bring the scoreline to 2-1 . Portuguese setup Arouca were the opponents of the Greek champs. Ideye played for 120 minutes.

Trenä�ín beat Rapid Vienna 2-0 in Austria but it was not enough for them to qualify for the group stage after losing the first leg 4-0.

Nigeria U23 international Kingsley Madu appeared off the bench for the Slovakian side in the 64th minute, Maduka Udeh and Aliko Bala were named in the starting XI. Bala was booked in the 44th minute and got replaced with 13 minutes remaining.

Finally, former Dream Team VI trainee Fred Friday was in action for 70 minutes as AZ played out a goalless draw with Vojvodina. The Eredivisie side will know their opponents in the group stage on Friday.
