Fit Again Dream Team Ace Etebo Plays Full Game On Primeira Liga Debut
Published: August 28, 2016
Nigeria international Oghenekaro Etebo made his debut in the Portuguese top-flight as his team CD Feirense were beaten 1-0 by Rio Ave at Estádio do Rio Ave Futebol Clube on match day three on Sunday night.
The 20-year-old was an important member of the Dream Team VI squad at the 2016 Olympic Games but has not kicked a ball in a competitive fixture since picking up a hamstring injury against Colombia on August 10.
Etebo almost inspired CD Feirense to earn a draw but the visitors conceded the only goal of the game in the first minute of second half stoppage time when Rafa scored.
He has been omitted from the latest Nigeria squad because there had been doubts surrounding his fitness, but those fears have been put to bed after he lasted the distance against Rio Ave.
Last season, the former Warri Wolves star played four matches in the second-tier, scoring once.
