DisCo Suspends Super Eagles Midfielder For Challenge On Portland Timbers Ace Adi
Published: September 14, 2016Major League Soccer’s Disciplinary Committee has suspended Nigeria international Sunday Stephen for a rash challenge on Fanendo Adi during the league game between Real Salt Lake and Portland Timbers on Saturday.
The two Nigerians went down after Adi went in for a tackle but the former Spain U20 international got up quickly after stepping on Adi’s shin, leaving the Timbers star in pains.
The incident occurred in the 42nd minute and Sunny was shown a yellow card by referee Fischer.
After the DisCo reviewed the incident, the defensive midfielder has been banned from one game and also fined an undisclosed amount, writes the official website of the MLS.
Thus, Sunday Stephen will not be available for selection when Real Salt Lake tackle Houston Dynamo on September 18.
