Echiejile Makes 32nd Appearance In European Competitions, Debuts For Standard Liege
Published: September 15, 2016
Super Eagles left fullback Elderson Echiejile will make his competitive debut for Standard Liege when they face off against Celta Vigo in the group stage of the Europa League on Thursday night.
The veteran defender has been included in the starting XI for the game against the Spanish opponents at Stade Maurice Dufrasne, starting from 2005 hours.
Echiejile has missed one game since completing his transfer from Monaco, the league match with Wilfred Ndidi’s Racing Genk last weekend.
The 28-year-old is eligible to play for Standard Liege in the Europa League since he did not make a single appearance for Monaco in the Champions League.
If his single appearance in the UEFA Intertoto Cup is included in the mix, tonight’s game is his 32nd appearance in European club competitions.
