Rundown of how players of Nigerian descent fared in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday night.

At the Emirates Stadium, Arsenal continued their impressive start to the season with a 2-0 win over FC Basel. Super Eagles starlet Alex Iwobi helped the Gunners secure the win and logged 70 minutes before he was substituted.

England U21 international Chuba Akpom, Aaron Eyoma and Tolaji Bola, who have been registered via the B list, were not involved for the Gunners, while Basel defender Manuel Akanji was left out of the squad by the Swiss outfit.

Elsewhere, Celtic became the first team to stop Manchester City from winning this season after they were held to a 3-3 draw in Glasgow.

For the second game running, Kelechi Iheanacho was a non-playing substitute. Teammate Tosin Adarabioyo was in action for the Citizens U19 squad in the UEFA Youth League this evening and did not feature for the first team.

Nigeria international defender Efe Ambrose has not been registered by Celtic for the group stages of the Champions League.

Austria star David Alaba started and played the full game but could not prevent Bayern Munich from losing 1-0 to Atlético Madrid at Estadio Vicente Calderón.
