Tottenham Hotspur Midfielder Onomah Receives Maiden England U21 Call Up; Iorfa Injured
Published: October 04, 2016
Tottenham Hotspur midfielder of Nigerian descent Josh Onomah has received a maiden call-up to the England U21 squad ahead of their Euro qualifiers against Kazakhstan and Bosnia & Herzegovina.
The 19-year-old was originally included in the U20s roster for this international break, but has been promoted one step following an injury sustained by Derby County’s Will Hughes.
Thus, two players of Nigerian descent could make their international debuts for England U21s this month, with Chelsea loanee Tammy Abraham also in the squad list.
Injured Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Dominic Iorfa has remained at his club undergoing treatment, but could play a part in the qualifier with Bosnia & Herzegovina if he recovers.
Onomah has made three appearances for the first team of Spurs this term and netted his first senior goal in the League Cup triumph against Gillingham.
