Super Eagles Coach Worried About Musa Mohammed Fitness Ahead WCQ Against Zambia
Published: October 06, 2016Racing Genk defensive midfielder Wilfred Ndidi had the least amount of playing time in Wednesday evening’s friendly between the Super Eagles and Plateau United at the National Stadium.
Reading the handwriting on the wall, Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr is worried about right back Musa Mohammed’s lack of game time ahead of the World Cup qualifier against Zambia, so much so that he was the only player that kept his place in the starting XI when the second half started.
According to the official match report published by the Nigerian Federation, the İstanbul Baakehir stopper was replaced by Ndidi late in the second half.
The former Golden Eaglets and Flying Eagles skipper is not the only player in the roster that has not played a competitive game for his European club this term, with skipper Obi Mikel also falling out of favour with Chelsea manager Antonio Conte.
But bear it in mind that Mikel was away on international duty with the Nigeria U23s in August and played six competitive games at the Olympic Games whereas Musa Mohammed’s only game this season was the AFCON qualifier with Tanzania last month.
