Oghenekaro Etebo First Game Under New Nigeria Coach On The Horizon
Published: October 11, 2016
Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that CD Feirense star Oghenekaro Etebo could play his first game under new Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr when the national team take on Algeria in a World Cup qualifier on November 12.
The German gaffer is a big admirer of the attacking midfielder and had mulled over the idea of calling him up to his squad ahead of the battle of Ndola, but the player’s fitness and residence permit issues prevented him from naming him.
The good news from Portugal is that Etebo has been informed by the authorities that his application for a residence permit will be granted on or before October 15.
Furthermore, the former Warri Wolves poster boy is now as fit as a fiddle, and showed he has not lost his goalscoring touch by netting in CD Feirense’s 3-0 win over Tondela in the League Cup on Sunday.
The 20-year-old Etebo made his debut for the A team of Nigeria in an AFCON qualifier against Egypt in March 2016.
