Derby County wing-back Ikechi Anya came off the bench in the 64th minute in Scotland’s 3-0 loss to Slovakia in Group F of the European World Cup qualifiers at Anton Malatinsky.
Still in the same group, Dele Alli sported the number ten jersey as England scrapped a goalless draw against Slovenia at Stadion Stožice (Ljubljana). The Tottenham Hotspur midfielder was replaced by Wayne Rooney in the 73rd minute.
In the third match in Group F, Nigerian-born frontman Alfred Effiong appeared off the bench in the 80th minute as Malta lost 2-0 to Lithuania in Vilnius.
In Group 1 of the European U21 Championship qualifiers, Joseph Mbong registered his name on the scorecard in Malta’s impressive 3-2 win over Moldova at the at the Hibernians Stadium, the home ground of his club.
The former Bolton Wanderers trialist scored the game-winner after 67 minutes, with a curling shot which hit the upright and went into the net.
Tammy Abraham, Dominic Iorfa and Josh Onomah featured in England’s 5-0 rout of Bosnia-Herzegovina U21 in a Euro U21s qualifier. The Bristol City star and Spurs midfielder were on target for the Young Lions.
