Red Card Mars Selbol Brilliant Display For Western Conference Champs Rangers
Published: October 16, 2016Swope Park Rangers have advanced to the 2016 USL Cup Final following a 3-0 win over Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 on Saturday night at Swope Soccer Village.
Nigeria U23 trainee Nansel Selbol played a part in their big win, coming off the bench in the 19th minute after Gonzalez had sustained an injury.
On 62 minutes, the attacking midfielder would have given the home team a three-goal cushion if he had scored, but saw his effort saved by goalkeeper Spencer Richey before shooting wide ten minutes later.
Selbol’s dismissal in second half stoppage time took the shine off his performance. He was first yellow carded in the 83rd minute before receiving his second caution.
Because of the red card, the 19-year-old has been ruled out of the Cup final against New York Red Bulls II or Louisville City FC.
