Talented Nigeria U23 Striker Finally Makes Competitive Debut For Bologna
Published: October 16, 2016
The young Nigerian striker Sadiq Umar, 19, finally made his competitive debut for Bologna in the Serie A on Sunday afternoon after recovering from an ankle injury.
The Nigeria U23 international was introduced in the second half of Bologna’s 1-1 draw with Lazio, replacing Sergio Floccari in the 54th minute.
Before stepping out onto the Stadio Olimpico turf, the last time he was considered for a match day squad was on August 28 when he was an unused substitute in Roma’s 2-2 draw with Cagliari.
Sadiq Umar saw his stock rise this summer after notching four goals for the Nigerian U23 national team at the 2016 Olympic Games, and was courted by a number of teams in Italy and abroad before choosing Bologna.
The Football College Abuja product will remain on loan at The Red and Blues until the end of this season.
