Arsenal Next Young Star Keeps Nigeria Waiting Over International Future
Published: February 11, 2017
Promising Arsenal youngster Joseph Olowu is focused on his club career, and the Nigeria Football Federation and English FA will have to wait on the national team he will pledge his international future to in the coming years.
Still only 17, the central defender is grabbing attention this season with a string of impressive performances for the Gunners 18s squad and has been tipped to establish himself as a regular for the U23s for the remainder of this season.
“Having been born in Nigeria, Olowu moved to England at a young age and is eligible to play for either country at international level, ” arseblog.com wrote.
“For now, though, the prospect is mainly focused on club football and, after making his debut against Derby County last month, Olowu received his second run-out for the U23s in the defeat to Everton this week.”
Olowu has no international experience at the moment, with England yet to cap him at any level.
He first played for Arsenal Academy at the age of 13.
