Exclusive: Nigeria U23 GK Daniel UNLIKELY To Debut For Orlando Pirates, NFF Say No ITC Requested
Published: February 17, 2017Nigeria U23 netminder Emmanuel Daniel is unlikely to make his competitive debut for Orlando Pirates when they take on Cape Town City in the South African top-flight on Saturday, for the simple reason that The Bucs have not yet requested for his International Transfer Certificate through SAFA as at 1638 hours.
Whether the transfer of the goalkeeper to Orlando Pirates is legitimate, that story is for another day, with Enugu Rangers yet to provide an update on his alleged status as a free agent.
Because today is a Friday, the Nigeria Football Federation have closed their offices but have promised to look into the case of Emmanuel Daniel if they get a request from their South African counterparts since he is a national team player.
“Emmanuel Daniel cannot make his debut for Orlando Pirates on Saturday, he must have an International Transfer Certificate to show, we have no request from SAFA,” a top source at the NFF explained to allnigeriasoccer.com.
“We have closed for the day but we can go to the office for the issuance of ITC if we get a request since he is a national team player.
“It does not take more than five minutes to issue the International Transfer Certificate. ITC is necessary if the transfer is from one country to another whether an amateur player, free agent or professional.”
It is believed that Emmanuel Daniel attracted the attention of Orlando Pirates after displaying his wares at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio, where he helped Nigeria pick up the bronze medal.
