Real Salt Lake Midfielder Sunny Replaced After Costly Error Vs Chicago Fire
Published: March 12, 2017
Former Spain U20 international Sunday Stephen dressed but saw action for only 45 minutes in Real Salt Lake’s 2-0 loss to Chicago Fire in Major League Soccer on Saturday.
It is thought that the ex-Valencia ace was replaced by manager Jeff Cassar before the start of the second half as a result of his error that led to the opening goal scored by Chicago Fire.
Sunny attempted to dispossess Michael de Leeuw at midfield but hit the ball past his back line and into the path of Nikolic, who slotted the ball past the goalkeeper.
In Real Salt Lake’s opening fixture of the season, the Nigerian-born star started and was involved for 78 minutes against Toronto at Rio Tinto Stadium.
Sunny represented clubs in Spain, Israel, Bulgaria and Turkey before shifting to Real Salt Lake in 2016.
