Belgian-Nigerian Goalscoring Defensive Midfielder Sanusi Nets 14th Career Goal
Published: March 19, 2017
Former Belgium youth-teamer Ryan Sanusi was on target to help Sparta Rotterdam beat Heracles 3-1 on game week 27 in the Dutch Eredivisie on Saturday night.
The defensive midfielder was struggling to be fit days leading up to the clash at Sparta-Stadion Het Kasteel after suffering a knee injury but put his injury worries behind him.
On 29 minutes, Sanusi scored his first goal in the Dutch top-flight when his shot deflected off Justin Hoogma and beat Belgian goalkeeper Bram Castro.
In the second half, he would have given Sparta Rotterdam a three-goal advantage but his dangerous shot did not go in.
Since making his professional debut in the Netherlands, Sanusi has 14 career goals (11 assists) to his name from 101 league matches.
