Man City Striker Iheanacho Scores Late Equalizer As Nigeria Hold Senegal To 1-1 Draw
Published: March 23, 2017
Kelechi Iheanacho scored a late equalizer as Nigeria held Senegal to a 1-1 draw in an international friendly at the Hive Stadium on Thursday night.
After he was felled by the Senegalese goalkeeper, the Manchester City striker restored parity seven minutes from time to cancel out Moussa Sow’s opener in the 53rd minute.
The Teranga Lions star had nearly scored few minutes after the restart but could not beat goalkeeper Akpeyi in a one-on-one situation.
In the closing minutes, Austria Vienna striker Kayode could have won the game for Nigeria on his senior debut but failed to make the most of the opportunity when he missed from close range.
Super Eagles coach Rohr handed a debut to Watford starlet Isaac Success in one of the changes he made in the second half.
Trabzonspor midfielder Eddy Onazi, who skippered the team tonight, had to make way for John Ogu midway through the first half after picking up a serious injury.
Nigeria will return to action on Monday, March 27 when they face Burkina Faso at the same venue.
