AFC Wimbledon Goalkeeper Visits Super Eagles London Camp, Holds Talks With Rohr
Published: March 24, 2017
Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that AFC Wimbledon goalkeeper Edward Ogbebor-Onaiwu visited the Super Eagles Crowne Plaza Hotel camp on Wednesday, ahead of their friendly with Senegal.
Contrary to speculations in the local media, the former Charlton Athletic wonderkid was never in contention to be handed a late call-up to the national team following the injury sustained by Wolves goalkeeper Carl Ikeme and the non-availability of Daniel Akpeyi and Ikechukwu Ezenwa.
Though Ogbebor-Onaiwu held a private chat with Super Eagles manager Gernot Rohr, it is understood one of the topics discussed was about committing his international future to the three-time African champions.
The 17-year-old, who is eligible to represent England, remains uncapped, but he trained with the Golden Eaglets back in 2016.
A product of Crystal Palace, Onaiwu was accompanied by his agent at the Crowne Plaza Hotel.
