Chelsea Defender Aina May Make Competitive Debut Against South Africa, Rohr Hints

Highly-rated Chelsea wing-back Ola Aina could make his competitive debut for the Super Eagles when they tackle South Africa in an African Cup of Nations qualifier in June, manager Gernot Rohr has hinted.
The ex-Bayern Munich defender ran the rule over the former England U20 international on Sunday, before observing in at close quarters in Monday evening’s practice game, and his performance ticked the right boxes.
“We planned two international friendlies but could only play one. However, we were still able to do some work, ” Rohr said, according to the Nigeria Football Federation.
“We’ve been able to see some new players and young Nigerian talents here in the United Kingdom, that could be part of our group in future.”
Ola Aina, 20, has played competitive matches for England youth teams and Fifa will have to formally approve his request to switch international allegiance from England to Nigeria.
