Top Nigerian Scorer In England Top Four Divisions Makes EFL Team Of The Week
Published: March 28, 2017Barnet striker John Akinde has been named in the English Football League Team of the Week for the latest round of matches in England.
In a 3-4-3 formation, Akinde was named in attack alongside Chris Porter (Colchester United) and Ivan Toney (Scunthorpe United).
The official website explained why he was picked : “Akinde moved level at the top of the Sky Bet League Two scoring charts with a quickfire brace as Barnet came back to beat Cheltenham Town.
“With the sides all square, the Bees target man netted in the 77th and 79th minute to clinch the points.”
Akinde has started all the matches contested by Barnet in League Two this season, and has found the net 23 times.
The 27-year-old is Nigeria’s top scorer in England’s top four divisions this season ahead of Chelsea loanee Tammy Abraham, who has scored 19 goals for Bristol City.
