Rohr Scouring Europe For Full Backs, Confirms Chelsea's Aina Has Opted To Represent Nigeria
Published: April 10, 2017Nigeria manager Gernot Rohr is searching for tested fullbacks to bolster the Super Eagles squad ahead of the African Cup of Nations qualifier versus South Africa and the double header against Cameroon in the World Cup qualifiers.
The German ran the rule over ex-England U19 skipper Ola Aina last month at a training camp in London and has confirmed that the right wing-back has committed his international future to Nigeria at senior level.
''We have Tyronne and Madu who may have game time issues, but we're working to get more options. I am confident we can get players,'' Rohr was quoted as saying by Brila FM.
''We have committed time in finding full backs.
''We have an option in Ola Aina of Chelsea , who has committed to Nigeria.''
Fifa must approve Aina's change of international allegiance within the next two months if the Nigeria Football Federation hope to hand him a call-up for the AFCON qualifier against South Africa.
