Chelsea Aina, Arsenal Akpom Poised To Make Nigeria Debut Against Burkina Faso On May 26
Published: April 11, 2017
Chelsea defender Ola Aina and Arsenal striker Chuba Akpom are in line to make their international debut for the Super Eagles when they tackle Burkina Faso in a friendly on May 26, according to Nigeria manager Gernot Rohr.
The former England youth internationals trained with the Nigerian national team in March, took part in a practice game between Team A and Team B at the Hive Stadium, and they impressed the coaches during their audition.
“We have seen the likes of Ola Aina, Tyronne Ebuehi Bazee, and Chuba Akpom in London, ” Rohr said on SuperSport Monday night show.
They all trained with us and we hope to have them in camp in France ahead of the Nations Cup qualifier against South Africa.”
The international friendly between Nigeria and Burkina Faso would have taken place on March 27, but the Stallions puled out of the game because they had challenges obtaining UK visas for players and officials.
