Ex-Real Madrid Youth-Teamer Osede Hoping To Follow In The Footsteps Of Nigeria Legend Okocha
Published: April 18, 2017
Former Real Madrid youth-teamer Derik Osede is in contention for Bolton Wanderers Player of the Year for the 2016-2017 season.
The official website has asked fans to choose the most impressive player of the season, with the central defender, Birmingham City loanee Viv Solomon-Otabor, Newcastle United's Sammy Ameobi and Reece Wabara among the players listed.
Of the four players mentioned above, Osede has played the most games in League One, 23 in total from a possible 43, while Solomon-Otabor and Wabara joined the club few months ago until the end of the season.
If the ex-Spain U20 international is announced the winner at Bolton Wanderers' End of Season Awards Dinner on Sunday, April 30, he'll follow in the footsteps of former Super Eagles skipper Austin Okocha who won the award during the 2002-03 season.
Madrid-born Osede has committed his international future to Nigeria but has not been called up to the national team.
