Chelsea & Swansea City Coaches React To Tammy Abraham's England Call-Up
Published: November 03, 2017Chelsea coach Antonio Conte and Swansea City boss Paul Clement have reacted to the invitation of Tammy Abraham to England seniors for their pre-World Cup friendlies against Germany and Brazil.
Having sparkled for England U21s, Abraham has been promoted to the Three Lions, just over a month he re-pledged his allegiance and loyalty to the country of his birth after he was courted by Nigerian Federation president Amaju Pinnick.
Speaking on the call-up of Chelsea loanees Abraham and Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Conte said : ''These players are heading in the right direction and it's important for them to play regularly, to show they are ready to be Chelsea's players.
''The pressure is totally different when you're a team fighting in the relegation zone than for something important.''
Swansea City coach Clement told the official website of the Welsh club : ''It’s very pleasing news, particularly for Tammy but also for our club and for his parent club Chelsea.
''It’s a pleasant surprise for us to see someone who we have brought in and who has done well rewarded with his first call-up at that level.
''His goalscoring is the big thing, but I think in recent games he has shown that his all-round game is developing too.''
The 20-year-old Abraham recorded more than 30 appearances for England youth teams and scored over 11 goals, before his maiden call-up to the Three Lions.
