The One Thing Fit Again Ezenwa Did In Closed-Door Session That Impressed Rohr, Super Eagles Stars
Published: October 12, 2018Enyimba goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa's injury troubles are behind him, so much so that he was one of the most impressive players during the national team's closed-door training session held at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium on Thursday evening.
There had been doubts over the fitness of Ezenwa after he was forced off injured in the first half of Enyimba's loss to Kano Pillars on Sunday in the Aiteo Cup after suffering a facial injury.
Though the 29-year-old didn't show any signs of being unfit in the Super Eagles first training session on Wednesday, he was overshadowed by Francis Uzoho and Daniel Akpeyi, and wasn't particularly eye-catching.
That said, he presumably redeemed himself in yesterday's session and the highlight of his performance was saving a penalty.
Providing an update on Ezenwa, Super Eagles Media Officer Toyin Ibitoye told Channels Television Sports on Friday morning : ''Everybody in camp is in excellent shape, Ikechukwu Ezenwa that people speculated he was injured was fantastic in training yesterday, pulling one save after the other.
''He even saved a penalty and earned a lot of applause from the coaches and the players alike.
''Ezenwa is on top of his game, Uzoho and Akpeyi as well, everybody, 24 out of 24, is in good shape and pushing, and it's really very good.
''Our training the other day that was open, the fans were cheering from start to finish, enjoying every move, enjoying the goals and game.
'It's really very positive, we hope it stays the way before and after the games because we have to return the players to their clubs as well.''

Ezenwa has not played for the Super Eagles in their last ten matches,
with manager Gernot Rohr installing the teenage goalkeeper Francis Uzoho
as the undisputed first choice.
