Swedish-Based Stars Dominate Nigeria AWCON 21-Woman Roster; Oshoala, Oparanozie, Country's Top Teenager Ajibade Make Cut
Published: November 07, 2018Nigeria have announced their 21-woman roster for this month's 11th Women Africa Cup of Nations finals in Ghana.
An analysis of the roster revealed that 3 goalkeepers, 7 defenders, 4 midfielders and 7 strikers have been picked by Head Coach Thomas Dennerby.
The squad contains 13 players plying their trade overseas with a majority of them, six in total, based in Sweden, Dennerby's home country.
The headline name on the list is former Arsenal and Liverpool frontwoman Asisat Oshoala who is currently on the books of Dalian Quanjian in China.
Striking pair Desire Oparanozie and Francisca Ordega have also made the cut along with the country's top teenage sensation Rasheedat Ajibade
Nigeria will battle South Africa, Zambia and Kenya in Group B of the AWCON and begin their campaign against Bayana Bayana on November 18.
