Brighton & Hove's Nigeria International Striker Umotong On Target Against Arsenal
Nigeria international striker Ini Umotong netted her first-ever goal in the Women's Super League as Brighton & Hove Albion were thrashed 4-1 by league leaders Arsenal at Meadow Park on Sunday afternoon.

The Gunners suffered a setback in the ninth minute when Umotong broke clear of the Arsenal defence and confidently slotted past van Veenendaal to open the scoring.

Arsenal went into the break with a two-goal advantage thanks to strikes from Miedema, Bloodworth and van de Donk, and Mead added more gloss to scoreline in the 80th minute.

Prior to Arsenal's fourth goal, Umotong had missed a glorious opportunity to reduce the deficit when her header narrowly missed the target.

The 24-year-old was called up for the Super Falcons friendly with France in April but was not considered for the 2018 Africa Women Cup of Nations squad as a result of the glut of strikers at the disposal of manager Thomas Dennerby, the likes of Asisat Oshoala, Desire Oparanozie and Francisca Ordega.

In another WSL match, Liverpool FC Women lost 2-0 to Birmingham City Women at Prenton Park.

England U20 striker Rinsola Babajide started and was in action for 80 minutes for The Reds.
