Shoretire Scores First Competitive Hat-trick For Man Utd Team In 10-Goal Thriller Vs Blackburn U23
Published: February 05, 2021Nigeria-eligible striker Shola Shoretire enhanced his growing reputation by scoring his first-ever hat-trick in a competitive match for Manchester United youth teams in a Premier League 2 game against Blackburn Rovers at Leigh Sports Village on Friday, three days after turning 17.
Both teams were level at the break, Samuel Barnes and McBride scored for Blackburn Rovers while Shoretire and Hannibal Mejbri replied for the home team.
Blackburn Rovers were 4-2 up ten minutes into the second half thanks to McBride, who netted his second of the night from the spot, and Joe Nolan's effort.
To their credit, Manchester United continued to take the match to Blackburn and were rewarded when Shoretire headed home into the bottom right corner in the 73rd minute to offer his side a glimmer of hope.
A minute later, parity was restored through a Joe Hugil goal before Shoretire tapped home for his hat-trick with twelve minutes left on the clock.
The Anglo-Nigerian provided the assist for United's first goal when he played in Mejbri, who fired into the top corner in the 20th minute.
Shoretire is expected to sign his first professional contract this month, after beginning the season as a first-year scholar.
