Spanish football pundit Miguel Quintana has credited former Barcelona manager Quique Setién for Samuel Chukwueze's impressive form this season.
Setién returned to La Liga to coach the Yellow Submarine in October 2022 following the departure of Unai Emery to Aston Villa.
Quintana underlined that Chukwueze's career was stagnant until the arrival of Setién and he has praised the experienced Spanish coach for bringing out the best in the Nigeria international.
The 2015 FFIA U17 World Cup winner has flourished under Setién, registering sixteen goal involvements (9 goals, 7 assist) in 23 games in all competitions.
Overall, Chukwueze has hit double figures for goals (11) and assists (11) this season for the first time in his professional career.
The 23-year-old has been linked with a transfer to the English Premier League on the back of his fine form.
"It is difficult, in fact, to separate what is Setién's work from what is the natural evolution of the footballer, but what is evident is that their paths have crossed at the right time for the blessing of Villarreal. and for the blessing of Spanish football," Quintana told Radio MARCA.
"We don't have too many attackers like Samu. That is why you have to take care of them with patience, you have to play them despite their mistakes and you have to enjoy them when they finally put their talent in order."
Now in his fifth season at Villarreal, Chukwueze is six games away from a reaching a milestone of 150 appearances in La Liga.
