Peter Ademo: Midfielder nurtured by the academy that produced Victor Boniface joins Romanian club
Published: February 11, 2025
With a statement on the official website, three-time Romanian champions Rapid Bucharest have announced the signing of Nigerian defensive midfielder Peter Ademo.
He has moved to Rapid Bucharest on loan from Moldovan powerhouse FC Sheriff Tiraspol for the remainder of the 2024-2025 season.
Peter Ademo is a product of Lagos-based grassroots club Real Sapphire, the same academy that nurtured Nigeria national teamer Victor Boniface before he began his European adventure.
Rapid Bucharest have signed Ademo on a temporary basis and have inserted a purchase clause into the deal bringing him to the club.
On his curriculum vitae, the 22-year-old lists BFC Daugavpils and DFK Dainava as his previous employers.
Ademo played in the UEFA Youth League during the 2021-2022 season while at Latvian club Daugavpils.
He represented FC Sheriff Tiraspol in the Champions League, Europa League and Conference League qualifiers as well as Europa League, playing in sixteen games across all competitions and scoring against FCV Farul while producing an assist against KÍ Klaksvík.
In his first words as a player of FC Rapid, Ademo said: "It's a good chance for me to show what I can do. I'm excited to play for a club like Rapid, it's a team with an important history and I hope to help achieve their goals.
"I've only heard good things about the team, about the incredible fans, and I can't wait to play for Giulesti.”
Ademo is the second Nigerian player signed by Rapid Bucharest in the winter transfer market, following in the footsteps of his former roommate David Ankeye, who was loaned in from Italian team Genoa.
