Exciting Leicester City fullback commits international future to Nigeria over England
Published: February 12, 2025
Allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report that exciting Leicester City fullback Olabade Aluko has committed his international future to Nigeria over England.
Born in 2006, the fullback qualifies to play for both Nigeria, through his parents, and his native England, but he is open to joining the Flying Eagles squad ahead of the 2025 Africa U20 Cup of Nations.
Aluko and his camp have not yet been approached by the Nigeria Football Federation for a potential call-up to the national teams.
The 18-year-old was recruited by Leicester City at the U15 level after catching the eye of the Foxes' scouts during UK Football Trials' trial camp in August 2021 and passing a subsequent trial.
He initially started his career as a central defender and right wingback before he was converted into a versatile fullback capable of playing on either side.
Aluko has been described as a dynamic and athletic right back with impressive technical and tactical abilities.
He made his debut in the U18 Premier League in his final season as a schoolboy, an indication of how highly he is rated by Leicester City's youth team coaches.
This season, Olabode has faced first team opposition, playing for 90 minutes against Northampton Town before coming off the bench against Notts County in the EFL Trophy.
