Germany squads announcement: Record-breaking GK Atubolu headlines seven Nigerians called up

For the first FIFA window of 2025, the German Football Association has announced its national team squads, including seven promising players eligible to represent Nigeria.

The list is headlined by record-breaking SC Freiburg goalkeeper Noah Atubolu, who is in contention to earn his 16th and 17th cap for Germany U21s, having been named in the squad list for a pair of friendlies against Slovakia (March 21) in Trnava and against Spain (March 25) in Darmstadt.

Last Saturday, Atubolu became the first Freiburg goalkeeper to go 510 minutes without conceding a goal, breaking the previous record held by club legend Richard Golz set in the 2001-2002 season.

Atubolu is joined on the U21s roster by exciting Eintracht Frankfurt defender Nnamdi Collins who has two caps for the age group.

At U19 level, 2023 Fifa U17 World Cup-winning players Winners Osawe and David Odogu have both been named in Germany U19s squad for the second round of European Championship qualification.

The Germany U19 team begins its campaign on March 19 against Slovenia in Wolfsburg, faces Finland on March 22 in Gifhorn, and concludes its campaign with a match against Ireland in Wolfsburg on March 25.

Wesley Adeh of Werder Bremen and Francis Onyeka of Bayer Leverkusen have earned spots in Germany's U18 squad for a training camp in Spain, with Freiburg's Elijah Oguguo on standby in case of a withdrawal.

Germany U18s will head to Spain for a training camp between March 16 and 24, during which they will play international matches against Austria and the Netherlands.

Meanwhile, FC Cologne U17s left-back Brian Adoga has been named in Germany U16s squad for the international matches against Italy on 21 and 24 March 2025 in Florence, while Borussia Dortmund's Desmond Ogochuku Ndlovu has been listed as a standby option.
