Porto loanee Chidozie Awaziem has picked Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos as his footballing role model and has hailed the leadership qualities of the Spain international.
The Super Eagles defender has shared the same pitch with Ramos and that was in October 2019 when Leganes were thrashed 5-0 by Los Blancos at the Santiago Bernabéu.
"I always like Sergio Ramos, I have always been a Real Madrid fan. I love the players and I admire Sergio Ramos - the way he plays and his leadership - he has always been my idol," said Awaziem to Hora Blanquiazul.
Awaziem's loan spell with Leganes will run out in June 2020 and he has stated it's up to the two clubs to decide his future.
"Right now I am more focused on the season and getting Leganes out of relegation. I don't know want the future holds, I just focus on the next games and try to get all three points.
"After the season I speak to Leganes and Porto and they decide together if I stay or not".
The Super Eagle admitted that he misses former Leganes striker Martin Braithwaite who joined Barcelona on a permanent deal last month after his release clause was paid to Los Pepineros.
Awaziem added : "We chat, we miss him in the team, he's nice company in the group and he was important in the team as well.
"We miss him because he was fighting upfront in attack, was giving problems to the opponents also.
"With the players we have, they are even giving more, everything they have. We believe in ourselves now and keep going".
Awaziem, who has been named to the Super Eagles squad list for AFCON qualifiers against Sierra Leone, has 18 games under his belt in the Spanish La Liga this term.
