The Super Eagles were four minutes away from dumping world powerhouse Argentina out of the 2018 World Cup but a goal from Manchester United's Marcos Rojo sealed a 2-1 win and qualification for the knockout stages for the South Americans.
Nigeria manager Gernot Rohr has said that a lack of experience cost his team dearly and highlighted that the attack was the weakest link during the tournament in Russia.
One of the tactical changes made by the German post-World Cup was to deploy Alex Iwobi as a playmaker and the Arsenal star shone as the Super Eagles netted seven goals in total in their two wins against Libya this month.
''Most importantly, that our team needs more experience. We were the youngest side in Russia and we need to learn how to deal with those pressure moments better,'' Rohr told Kick Off Magazine.
''We realised we were a bit too weak going forward during the World Cup, and we are trying to change that with a new style now.
''We tweaked a few things tactically: Iwobi plays more centrally now, which has worked quite nicely, while Ighalo is more confident. ''
He added : ''We also called up Samuel Kalu from Bordeaux who is a good new addition.
''In general, we are always trying to improve the team, and I maintain that overall, the World Cup was positive for us.
''Our team battled hard, and learned a lot.''
