'Roots in Okrika' - Brentford confirm latest signing is eligible for Super Eagles apart from Red Devils

Premier League club Brentford have announced the signing of highly rated dual-national forward Kaye Furo on a five-and-a-half-year contract, subject to international clearance.

In a post on their official X page, the Bees confirmed that Furo has roots in Okrika, Rivers State, Nigeria, although he was raised in Belgium.

Kaye is the son of former Super Eagles centre-back Iyenemi Furo, who helped Nigeria finish second at the 2000 Africa Cup of Nations before representing the Dream Team II at the Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia.

At international level, the 18-year-old is currently leaning towards representing Belgium’s Red Devils, having been provisionally cap-tied to the European nation.

Furo has represented Belgium at U15 and U16 level and made his competitive debut for the U17s in a UEFA European Championship qualifier against Finland.

He later earned caps for the U18 and U19 teams before making his U21 debut in September 2025.

Standing at 6ft 3in, the striker departs Club Brugge after nine years at the club. He made eight first-team appearances and played 41 games for Club NXT.

At Brentford, Furo will link up with Nigeria's Africa Cup of Nations star Frank Onyeka, Germany international of Nigerian descent Kevin Schade, and Super Eagles-eligible defender Michael Kayode.
