Second Longest Serving Player Mikel Preparing To Bid Farewell To Chelsea
John Obi Mikel has announced that he might end his more than ten-year association with Chelsea when he comes off contract at the end of the 2016-2017 season.<br /><br />The defensive midfielder can reach an agreement with an interested club when the January transfer window opens for business per Fifa rules. <br /><br />“When you have a year left, in January you are allowed to talk to other clubs and sign a pre-contract or have an agreement so, yes, I will talk to other clubs because you never know what is going to happen,” Mikel said, according to Sky Sports UK.<br /><br />“This season is the last at the club if my contract ends. I am quite relaxed about it, the future looks good.”<br /><br />Mikel has played nonstop at Chelsea since 2006 when he arrived Stamford Bridge from Lyn Oslo and has recorded 368 appearances for the first team.<br /><br />The Nigeria skipper was not included in the Blues squad for their League Cup clash with Leicester City on Tuesday night despite being fit. <br /><br />Igho Kingsley <br /><br />Photo Credit : chelseafc.com <br />
