Brentford loanee Frank Onyeka has been named in the EFL Championship Team of the Week following an outstanding display in Coventry City’s 3–1 victory over Wrexham last weekend.
The Super Eagles midfielder registered his first assist in Sky Blue colours, setting up Ephron Mason-Clark, who sealed the win with a stoppage-time strike in the fourth minute of second-half added time.
Onyeka was included in a midfield unit alongside Morgan Whittaker (Middlesbrough), Adrian Segecic (Portsmouth), and Will Vaulks (Oxford United).
The FC Ebedei product joined Coventry City on loan during the winter transfer window in search of regular playing time for the remainder of the season, with an obligation to make the move permanent should the club secure promotion to the Premier League.
That clause is widely expected to be activated in the summer, with the Sky Blues already crowned Championship winners and Onyeka playing a significant role in their success.
Since completing his move, the Nigeria international has started 13 of Coventry's 15 matches under Frank Lampard, scoring once—a strike in contention for the club's Goal of the Season award.
Against Wrexham, Onyeka impressed on both sides of the game, recording a joint team-high two key passes, a joint game-high two successful dribbles, and drawing the most fouls (three).
Defensively, the 28-year-old registered three tackles, one interception and one blocked shot.
