Football governing body, Fifa, on Thursday, August 16 published its latest rankings of National Teams, based on the new ranking formula introduced.
Compared to their position the previous month, the Super Eagles have dropped one spot and are now ranked 49,
while they are seventh in the continental ranking.
Tunisia, Senegal, Congo DR, Ghana and Morocco are the top five teams in Africa in that order.
Our rivals in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers South Africa, Libya and Seychelles occupy the 74th, 101st and 188th positions respectively.
There were changes in the top five; France are the top ranked soccer nation after emerging world champions in Russia, followed by Belgium, Brazil, Croatia and Uruguay.
The next FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking will be published on 20th September 2018.
