Super Eagles star Alex Iwobi has revealed that he celebrated his first goal for Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium with a trip to South African restaurant chain, Nando’s.
The Hale End Academy product scored his maiden home goal for the Gunners in their 4-0 rout of Watford on April 2, 2016 in what was his second Premier League start.
Iwobi struggled in the second half of last season but has impressed in the new season under new Arsenal boss Unai Emery and had a hand in the two goals scored by the club against Watford last weekend.
''Scoring that first goal made me realise how much I wanted to establish myself here. I celebrated by going to Nando’s with my family,'' Iwobi said to Daily Star.
''I love a Nando’s – sometimes I go there incognito so people don’t notice me. Obviously, the main thing is that the team do well, but if I can get a few more goals that would be a bonus.''
The Arsenal number 17 went on : ''I’m working every day in training. The main thing the boss stresses with me is to get into those positions to score.
''He’s happy with me getting into those positions and the next step is converting the chances. I’ve lost a bit of weight because of the intense training, and it’s made me a bit sharper.''
In 104 outings for Arsenal in all competitions since making his professional debut against Sheffield Wednesday, Iwobi has found the net 10 times while providing 20 assists.
