Super Eagles to face Ronaldo's Portugal and Piotr Zielinski's Poland again ahead of World Cup

According to a press release made available to allnigeriasoccer.com, the Super Eagles will be busy in June, with two friendlies lined up by the Nigeria Football Federation.

The three-time African champions will face Piotr Zieliński’s Poland on June 3 at the PGE National Stadium in Warsaw, with kickoff scheduled for 20:45 local time.

As part of their pre-World Cup preparations, Nigeria beat Poland 1-0 in March 2018, thanks to a penalty from former Chelsea wingback Victor Moses just past the hour mark.

The upcoming match will mark only the second meeting between the two sides.

It remains uncertain whether Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski will feature, following his hint at international retirement after Poland narrowly missed out on the 2026 World Cup with a 3-2 defeat to Sweden.

Portugal will face the Super Eagles on June 10, their final friendly before the 2026 World Cup clash against the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The 2016 European champions defeated Nigeria 4-0 in a pre-World Cup friendly at José Alvalade Stadium in November 2022, with Bruno Fernandes (2), Gonçalo Ramos, and João Mário on the scoresheet.

Cristiano Ronaldo will be aiming to feature this time, having missed the first meeting more than three years ago.

Recently, the Super Eagles concluded a training camp in Antalya, Turkey, where they defeated Iran 2-1 before settling for a 2-2 draw against Jordan.
