'The goal he scored against Spurs' - West Ham coach hails Iwobi's talent ahead of London derby
Against Spurs, the Nigeria international scored in back-to-back Premier League games for the first time this season and it was a goal of pure quality that sealed three points for Marco Silva's team.
With Fulham ahead thanks to Harry Wilson’s opener, Iwobi doubled the lead in the 37th minute, calmly curling a powerful strike into the net from outside the box with his instep.
Nuno Espírito Santo admitted that Fulham have consistently proven that they are a difficult side to face.
"It's part of our job to see all the games and I thought Fulham were very good [on Sunday],” he was quoted as saying by West Ham's official webpage.
"They are a very good team. They’ve been showing it year after year. Marco Silva is doing an amazing job. He’s been there a while and you can see the routines and the complicity and see that they’re a tough team."
The Portuguese tactician singled out Iwobi for praise, citing his strike against Tottenham as proof of the midfielder's quality.
"Alex Iwobi, the goal that he scored [against Tottenham]… they have so many talented players."
Statistically, West Ham are Iwobi's favourite opponents in terms of goal involvement, with the Hale End Academy graduate directly participating in eight goals, scoring twice and providing six assists, across sixteen matches against them.
