The Victor Moses Record Equaled By Olivier Giroud In Chelsea's 2-1 Win At Malmo

French World Cup winner Olivier Giroud equaled a record first set by our own Victor Moses as Chelsea beat Malmo 2-1 in a Europa League round of 32 first leg clash at Swedbank Stadion on Thursday night.

The Blues number 18 struck in the 58th minute to double the advantage for the visitors, following a cross from Willian.

According to the statisticians at OPTA, Olivier Giroud is the first Chelsea player to score in four successive games in European competition since Victor Moses in May 2013; a year in which they won the Europa League.

The former Nigeria international became the first Chelsea player to score in four successive games in the Europa League after finding the net in both legs of the quarterfinal and semifinal matches against Rubin Kazan and FC Basel.

Giroud started his goalscoring run when got on the scoresheet against BATE Borisov on November 8 and then scored against PAOK Thessaloniki, Vidi FC and Malmo.

Moses made his ninth appearance in the Europa League when he started for Fernerbahce in their 1-0 win against Zenit Saint Petersburg on Tuesday.
