Gernot Rohr will not take the Guinean team lightly when the Super Eagles face them in their second group match at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations, saying that they have quality players representing top clubs.
Liverpool's Naby Keïta,Toulouse's Issiaga Sylla, Eintracht Frankfurt's
Simon Falette, Napoli's Amadou Diawara and Bordeaux's François Kamano are some of the eye-catching names on the Syli Stars roster for the tournament in Egypt.
Guinea were almost beaten in their opener against Madagascar but earned a share of the spoils in a 2-2 draw after Kamano converted a spot kick in the 66th minute and Rohr has suggested that the pressure is on them to get their campaign back on track.
''We are ready because the players are getting fit. The pressure is on Guinea because they have to win this match but we are in a positive situation, we are topping the group with three points, we want to remain top and if we win we are sure to be through which is a good motivation for our players, so I think this match is the most difficult in the group when you see the players they have, players playing in such big teams like Liverpool, Napoli, Bordeaux, Toulouse,'' Rohr said at Tuesday's press conference attended by allnigeriasoccer.com.
''A lot of them have been educated in France with French football philosophy.
''There is even a teammate of one of our players Kalu, Kamano. They play together in the same team, they are friends but there will be no friendship tomorrow, it will be a difficult match.
''I only hope the situation around the team will be a good one, serenity and harmony. I hope after the meeting of the players this morning we can still work in this serenity.''
Ahmed Musa was nominated to represent the Super Eagles players at today's press conference but was absent because an in-house meeting was being held simultaneously.
