Trabzonspor centre-back Chibuike Nwaiwu is back in contention for his first Super Eagles call-up following a successful recovery from injury, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
Nwaiwu recently revealed that he is on the radar of manager Eric Chelle ahead of Nigeria's proposed friendly against Jordan later this month.
The defender’s hopes of earning a maiden call-up for the Super Eagles’ first international fixture of 2026 had been in doubt after he was diagnosed with bleeding in the inner thigh muscles of his left leg after Trabzonspor's win over Fatih Karagümrük.
Nwaiwu is one of three Nigerian players selected for the matchday 25 game, alongside forwards Paul Onuachu and Anthony Nwakaeme.
With up to ten substitutes allowed on the bench, the defender is expected to receive his tenth call-up for an official game following his winter transfer from Austrian side Wolfsberger AC.
Before his spell on the sidelines, Nwaiwu scored his first career brace for a European club as Trabzonspor secured a 3-1 victory over Fatih Karagümrük in the Süper Lig.
